Call for Bids: Host the 2027 ISSP International Conference of Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology

The International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP) invites bids to host the 2027 ISSP International Conference of Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology. This biennial event aims to advance global engagement and collaboration in sport psychology, alternating with our quadrennial World Congress to offer consistent knowledge-sharing and professional development opportunities.

About the ISSP International Conference
The ISSP International Conference will bring together 600-800 professionals over 3.5 to 4 days, held on a university campus to foster an intimate, engaging setting. The event will be hosted on a different continent from the previous World Congress to promote global access. Registration fees will be approximately 20% lower than the World Congress fees, with an 8% royalty of gross income allocated to ISSP to support its sustainability.

Who can Submit a Bid?
– National psychological associations/societies or networks within any country.
– ISSP Full Members in good standing collaborating with a national psychological association or society.

Key Criteria for Hosting
Potential hosts should consider:
Venue Requirements: Adequate space for 600-800 attendees and nearby accommodation options.
Managing Council Meeting: Availability to host the ISSP Managing Council meeting before the conference.
Financial Planning: Capability to cover all event expenses, including (8% – 10%) royalty to ISSP, and provide affordable options for emerging professionals.
Inclusivity and Accessibility: We are committed to the ICSU’s “free circulation of scientists” principle, ensuring accessibility for all attendees globally.

Selection Process and Timeline
Bid Submission: Submit the completed application form to the ISSP Site & Relations Committee by January 15, 2025. A brief optional video presentation may be included.
Review and Voting:
March 20, 2025: Initial review, with requests for additional details if needed.
June 1, 2025: Managing Council vote on applications. If selected, a site visit will be scheduled.
Site Visit (June – October 2025): A Site & Relations Committee member will confirm the suitability of the selected site.
