Obituary
Prof. Dr. Hermann Rieder 3.5.1928 -22.8.2009
For the international sport science community and sport psychology colleagues from all over the world Hermann Rieder was a blessing. In the constitutional phase of the International
Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP), he contributed significantly to the advancement of the Society, to the advancement of sport psychology as a discipline, and as a
global player to intercultural communication and understanding among colleagues, coaches, and athletes. When he passed away Saturday morning, August 22nd,
our scientific community lost a sport psychology beacon. However, his spirit and initiatives not only have been tremendously influential on us, but they will continue
to inspire future generations in sport psychology.
